Pelindo Provides Relaxation for Customers Affected by Rob Semarang

Jakarta, 28 May 2022 - A number of relaxation schemes for port service users affected by the tidal flood that hit the north coast of Semarang were prepared by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo. As the operator of the Tanjung Emas Port, Pelindo has met with several service users to discuss the steps the company will take after the tidal flood. Group Head of the Pelindo Corporate Secretariat Ali Mulyono said relaxation would be provided for both container and non-container customers who were directly affected by the tidal wave that had hit since Monday (23/05).

For container customers, for example, the company's business group, namely PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, will provide an exemption from stacking fees for affected containers in the TPK Semarang area. Exemption from stacking fees is given for 5 days starting from May 24, 2022, to May 28, 2022, including costs caused by containers that have not been delivered (out of the terminal area). Also for the cost of containers that exceed the maximum time limit for receiving at the terminal (closing).

"In addition to the stacking fee, there is also exemption from the cost of mooring ships that dock on May 23, 2022, calculated from the estimated ship departure until the realization of the ship's departure, we also waive additional movement fees for container evacuation so as not to be affected by tidal water," Ali explained, Saturday ( 28/05).

In addition to container customers, a relaxation scheme will also be provided for non-container customers, namely those who have activities at the inner harbor pier, ocean pier, and archipelago pier. Vessels in the area that cannot operate due to flooding will receive a number of cost concessions, namely mooring fees, stacking fees in the fumigation area, costs for moving stockpiling locations (PLP), and bonded logistics centers.

"For technical relaxation, we will communicate again intensively with service users," explained Ali.

Furthermore, Ali said a number of expectations were conveyed by service users. One of them is his hope that TPK Semarang can recover and operate normally again. Other expectations regarding Tanjung Emas Port that are free from rob are also expressed by service users.

The handling of tidal flooding due to the embankment of PT Lamicitra Nusantara has shown good progress. GM Pelindo Tanjung Emas Branch Hardianto said the broken embankment had been successfully closed by the joint team on Friday (27/05) morning. Furthermore, the tidal water in the port area is pumped to be channeled into a holding pond for further disposal into the sea.

"Water entering through the broken embankment can be dammed, the condition this morning Saturday (28/05) the water in the port area has receded," explained Hardianto.

Hardianto added that the pump system built by Pelindo can handle tidal waves up to 130 cm high, but due to a natural phenomenon that was exacerbated by the collapse of a private level, a number of Pelindo pumps were submerged in water.

Currently along Jl. The coaster, which is the main road of Tanjung Emas Port, has receded due to the tidal flood. There are no longer visible high puddles that interfere with vehicle traffic that will be active in the terminal. According to Hardianto, the water in the port has been pumped out with pumps owned by Pelindo and BBWS.

"Tanjung Emas Port activities are gradually recovering, all activities are running, at the passenger terminal, the archipelago pier, the ocean pier, and also the Semarang TPK," he concluded.
