JAKARTA, October 31, 2022 - CMA CGM Group and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo today received CMA CGM Alexander Von Humboldt which is the largest container ship docked in Indonesian ports and served by a subsidiary of the Pelindo Group, namely PT Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT).
Facilitating the growth of export trade volume between Indonesia and the US
CMA CGM Alexander Von Humboldt has a direct call route for CMA CGM Columbus JAX (JAX) which connects Jakarta and the United States. This service is prioritized to facilitate the growth of trade volume between Indonesia and the second largest export market, as well as anticipating double-digit export growth by the end of 2022.
“With the presence of CMA CGM Alexander Von Humboldt, this proves that Indonesia is increasingly in demand by international trade. Through relatively large ships with direct call services to the US, the logistics costs will be cheaper, so that Indonesia's competitiveness in shipping goods will be cheaper. We must not be satisfied with this, we must make efforts to reduce logistics numbers well which is impossible to do alone. We need cooperation with all parties and make improvements," said the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi.
Various solutions to support the largest container port in Indonesia
Founded in Indonesia in 1995, CMA CGM Group currently employs more than 250 staff members in seven branch offices and has four self-owned depots. It currently offers seven maritime services, 50 of which dock at the port each week. Of these, four services including JAX services come to JICT every week.
