Pelindo Participates in the Success of the Mangrove Rehabilitation Program in Indramayu

Jakarta, 29 November 2021 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) / Pelindo in synergy with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) held a Soft Launching of Mangrove Area Rehabilitation in an effort to accelerate the rehabilitation of the national mangrove area in Indramayu Regency in Saturday (27/11).

 

This activity is a follow-up to the Cooperation Agreement for Mangrove Rehabilitation through the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL)/Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which was signed last September. Also attending were Assistant Deputy for Climate Change and Disaster Management at the Ministry of Komarves Kus Prisetiahadi, Regent of Indramayu Nina Agustina, Director of Coastal and Small Islands Utilization (P4K) of KKP Muhammad Yusuf, Group Head of Pelindo Corporate Secretariat Ali Mulyono, and a group of fish cultivators and farmers in Indramayu Regency.

 

"We thank Pelindo for supporting the Government in rehabilitating mangrove areas through the TJSL program. Not forgetting the Indramayu Regency Government for being willing to accept, support, and facilitate this activity. may be implemented entirely using the state budget, the role of SOEs is also important to support the success of this program target," Kus Prisetiahadi in his remarks.

 

Indramayu Regency has a coastline of approximately 147 kilometers which is one of the very strategic and developing areas of the North Coast of West Java. This coastal area in Indramayu Regency is not only a tourist attraction, it is also a source of abundant marine life and has a large area of ​​mangrove forest.

 

"Seeing this potential, of course, the mangrove area must really be maintained and developed. Mangroves are not only to control and preserve coastal ecosystems, but can be processed into processed products that can be consumed and become MSME products. I hope that in the future the rehabilitation of mangrove areas can continue and involve even more elements. Because the more people who play a role, the more maximal the results will be," said Nina Agustina

 

Mangrove area is one of the ecosystem areas in coastal areas that has many benefits and high economic value. Mangroves can also protect coastal areas from natural disasters such as tsunamis and prevent abrasion. Based on the 2021 National Mangrove Map, the condition of the mangrove ecosystem in Indonesia is 3.36 million hectares, with a total area of ​​3.1 million hectares of dense mangroves, 188,363 hectares of medium mangroves, and 54,474 hectares of rare mangroves.

 

"We fully support the Government program initiated by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the KKP to rehabilitate critical mangrove areas in Indramayu Regency through the TJSL program to achieve national targets related to the rehabilitation of mangrove areas in Indonesia by cooperating with environmental activists, namely people who are members of cultivator groups and farmer groups," said Ali Mulyono.

 

The rehabilitation of mangrove areas in Indramayu Regency is carried out through the Mangrove Planting Intensive Program (PKPM) in accordance with the President's instructions in the context of National Economic Recovery (PEN).

 

"The work-intensive Mangrove Planting by Pelindo is carried out by the Mangrove Rimba Jaya Fish Cultivator Group (POKDAKAN) in Lamarantarung Village, Cantigi District with an area of ​​75 hectares. Through an ecotourism approach, this mangrove area rehabilitation activity also empowers fishermen's wives by increasing community capacity by provide facilities for processing mangrove derivative products into products of economic value," explained Muhammad Yusuf

 

"This program is a form of corporate responsibility towards the environment in an effort to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals as an effort to mitigate the impacts of climate change and contribute to the success of the Government's program to rehabilitate mangrove areas by empowering the community," concluded Ali Mulyono.
