Erick Thohir: Pelindo Merger is the Right Way to Reduce Logistics Costs

Jakarta, 3 March 2023 - The merger of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo which was carried out on 1 October 2021 was one of the transformation programs carried out by the Ministry of BUMN. Merger or merger of port SOEs is an important step in order to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the national port.

“When I first entered the Ministry of SOEs, the first real agenda that occurred to me was transforming SOEs, so that they are able to go beyond standard corporate criteria. But the transformation must be carried out quickly and precisely, but still within the framework of the constitution," said BUMN Minister Erick Thohir in a Scientific Oration entitled "Eternity of BUMN Transformation" during the Open Session of the Academic Senate of Brawijaya University in the Context of Conferring an Honorary Doctorate Degree in the Field of Strategic Management to Erick Thohir.

One of the main focuses of post-merger Pelindo is operational transformation through standardization and systemization of ports supported by increased human resource capabilities and business process transformation. The results of this transformation began to be seen after one year of the merger, namely with the increase in performance and productivity in a number of ports.
