Until D-8, travelers passing through Pelindo Harbor reached 370,249 people

Jakarta, 15 April 2023 - During the period 7-14 April 2023 or until H-8 Eid, it was recorded that 370,249 travelers had passed through 63 Passenger Terminals managed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo. This figure increased by 24.58% compared to the same period last year of 297,207 travelers. The five passenger terminals with the most traffic were the Tanjung Pinang Passenger Terminal with 40,958 passengers, Tanjung Perak with 35,951 passengers, Makassar with 20,495 passengers, Balikpapan with 17,980 passengers and Tanjung Balai Karimun with 17,319 passengers.

"To support the smooth flow of homecoming, we are preparing additional facilities to complement the basic facilities available during the 2023 Eid homecoming period. Among other things, tents and chairs for additional passenger waiting rooms, health care rooms, portable toilets, and additional BKO security personnel," said Corporate Secretariat Group Head Ali Mulyono.

In anticipating the predicted increase in the number of passengers, Pelindo is improving coordination with port agencies regarding checking passenger travel requirements, increasing information regarding ship schedules for prospective passengers, and also being supported by the Joint Command Post in 2023. Pelindo also ensures that the health protocols implemented are in accordance with standards set by the government, such as checking body temperature, providing hand washing facilities, and mandatory use of masks for all passengers and terminal staff.

In addition, to support the smooth flow of homecoming, especially on the Java-Sumatra route, Pelindo has re-opened Ciwandan Port in Banten and Panjang Port in Lampung to serve ferry boat routes. This was done as part of the Government's strategy to reduce queue density on the Merak – Bakaheuni crossing route.
