Palembang (14/7/2023) – PT Pelindo Marine Service or Pelindo Marines continues to develop FAME (fatty acid methyl ester/fatty acid methyl ester) transportation services. FAME is a production material for environmentally friendly biofuels, which is bioenergy from biofuels. The subsidiary of PT Pelindo Jasa Maritime (SPJM), on Friday (14/7), successfully completed a shipment of 4,000 kiloliters of FAME cargo from the pier in the Dumai Industrial Area, Riau, to the Plaju special terminal in Palembang, South Sumatra.
"Pelindo Marines deployed a fleet of one unit of self-propelled oil barge, SPOB. Putra Satria with an experienced crew and the support of competent loading and unloading workers at the loading and unloading docks. Reliable FAME transportation via sea transportation is very important to support the maintenance of supply, so that production is not hampered. Because increasing the use of environmentally friendly (non-fossil) fuels is part of the government's Strategic Program," said the Main Director of Pelindo Marines, Warsilan, separately from Surabaya.
Since the end of 2020, Pelindo Marines has also successfully served FAME transportation from the Port of Gresik to the Port of Tanjung Perak, in Surabaya, East Java. Transportation via sea transportation has been running routinely and has become a reliable and efficient transportation solution. In addition, it has also reduced the burden of land transportation of FAME cargo on the busy Gresik - Surabaya route.
"Pelindo Marines continues to develop the technical quality of FAME transportation services via sea transportation. Because it has become a best practice for logistics costs that are more efficient in terms of transportation costs, and more effective in terms of the duration of transportation (rather than transportation via land transportation). The reliability of transporting cargo via sea transportation is an attractive factor for entrepreneurs to increase business efficiency and increase people's productivity because traffic is smoother,” said Warsilan again.
