Ekspor Impor Sulsel Picu Arus Barang Pelindo Regional 4 Tumbuh 156,87%

Makassar, 04 August 2023 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo Regional 4 recorded a significant increase in performance, especially the flow of non-container goods in and out of all managed ports in semester 1 of this year, growing by 156.87% compared to same period last year.

The increase in the value of exports and imports, especially through the Port of Makassar in March this year, is thought to have been the trigger, especially in the growth in the flow of goods going in and out of this hub port and the largest in Eastern Indonesia (KTI).

This is stated on the official website of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, sulselprov.go.id, based on data released by the South Sulawesi Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) on May 2, 2023. On the website made by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, it was stated that this region's exports in March experienced a significant increase, namely an increase of 31.60% compared to the same month last year.

This was confirmed by a statement by the Head of the South Sulawesi BPS, Aryanto who said, "Exports in March 2023 in South Sulawesi reached US$194.29 million, a significant increase compared to March 2022 of 31.60%.

Meanwhile, imports in March were US$79.81 million. "This means that South Sulawesi's trade balance is experiencing a surplus trend of US$114.48 million," said Aryanto.

Meanwhile the Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman said that the South Sulawesi Provincial Government continues to push for increased sales and exports of products from South Sulawesi abroad.

"We continue to encourage how to increase exports, including for MSME products," he said.

He hopes that this increase in exports as well as the creation of a surplus can encourage the smooth circulation of the economy in South Sulawesi.

Pelindo Regional 4 Operations Division Head, Yusida M. Palesang added, the top five ports in Regional 4 which had non-container goods flowing also increased in the first half of this year compared to the same term last year, namely the Port of Balikpapan, then the Port of Makassar, followed by the Port of Bitung. , Parepare Port, and Samarinda Port.

"In the first half of this year, each of the five ports recorded a total flow of non-container goods of 18,045,840 tons/m3, 1,582,721 tons/m3, 753,822 tons/m3, 457,370 and 124,914 tons/m3," explained Yusida.

As for containers, the port that ranks first with the highest container traffic is TPK New Makassar 1 or previously named Makassar Container Terminal (TPM) with 200,903 TEUs, then Samarinda Port with 153,190 TEUs, then followed by TPK New Makassar 2 or previously Makassar New Port (MNP) with 130,761 TEUs, TPK Bitung 121,991 TEUs, and PT Kaltim Kariangau Terminal (KKT) with 96,483 TEUs.

Yusida said that these figures would of course continue to move, especially since the end of 2023 is still several months away. He hopes that this year Pelindo, especially in Regional 4, can achieve the performance set by the company.
