Surabaya (01/09) - Port Business Entity (BUP) PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP) is preparing to transform Ternate Port in North Maluku and Merauke Port in South Papua. This follows the acceptance of the handover of operations of the 2 ports by SPTP from PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) which is effective on September 1, 2023. Ternate Port and Merauke Port add to the list of terminals that will be managed by SPTP, which now totals 31 container terminals.
President Director of PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas M. Adji said the company has a number of plans to improve the quality of container services at Ternate Port and Merauke Port. According to him, the first thing that will be done is to make arrangements in the terminal area to support container service activities. The arrangement includes the arrangement of container operational areas (zoning), standardization of container operation patterns and assessment of the needs of supporting equipment for container loading and unloading activities.
"We will also provide knowledge about good container terminal operation standards based on planning and control. These workers will carry out operational activities in the terminal, so that increased knowledge and competence is needed to support terminal performance," said Adji, Friday (01/09).
