Medan, 5 January 2022 - PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT) as of January 1, 2022 has officially operated at the Dumai Port Terminal, Riau. The Panamanian-flagged Alahas on January 1, 2022.
The welcoming of MV Alahas as the inaugural 2022 ship at Dumai Port was led directly by the Director of Operations of SPMT Ridwan Sani Siregar, through a ceremony of giving souvenirs to the cargo owner PT Jatim Propertindo Jaya and representatives of the ship PT Pelayaran Cahaya Papua.
The MV Alahas ship, which became the inaugural service ship by SPMT at Dumai Port in early 2022, has a length of 110m and a weight of 8,615 GT, and carries out loading activities for Palm Kernell Shell (PKS/shell) commodities of 10,000 metric tons which will be exported to Japan.
"The official operation of PT Pelindo Multi Terminal at Dumai Port which is the largest CPO exporting port in Indonesia is the result of the efforts and hard work of all SPMT people and is expected to be the initial momentum in 2022 to realize SPMT as an Indonesian Connectivity Champion," said the President Director of PT. Pelindo Multi Terminal, Drajat Sulistyo.
PT Pelindo Multi Terminal is a subholding of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) / Pelindo which was formed on October 1, 2021. PT Pelindo Multi Terminal focuses its port services on managing non-container terminals, such as liquid bulk, dry bulk, multipurpose terminals, to passenger terminals and vehicle terminals.
Previously, a series of activities had been carried out by PT Pelindo Multi Terminal in preparation for the operational preparation of the Dumai Port Terminal, starting from End User Training on Terminal Operating System (TOS) implementation for SPMT employees which was held from 24 to 30 December 2021, Socialization to Dumai Port service users on December 29, 2021, Joint Prayer and Compensation for Orphans and Gala Dinner with Dumai Port Stakeholders on December 30, 2021, as well as a Board of Directors Briefing to the entire SPMT team in the Dumai work area on December 31, 2021.
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Dumai Port continues to record positive performance in shipping CPO and its derivatives in Indonesia with an average figure of more than 400,000 tons per month. Types of liquid bulk commodities sent from this port include Crude Palm Oil (CPO) which is exported to India, China and Europe. Meanwhile, for dry bulk, the Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE) and Palm Kernel Shell (PKS) are mostly exported to East Asia and Europe.
