The construction or manufacture of this crane for the initial stage is expected to be able to meet the needs of cranes at ports managed by the Pelindo Group and in the long term can meet domestic and foreign needs.

The cooperation was signed by the President Director of the Subholding Pelindo Jasa Maritim (SPJM) Prasetyadi together who represented the President Director of Dinson Industries Corporation Feng Tao, the Director of Business Development of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero), Tbk. Sitimila Garmilah, President Director of PT Gunanusa Utama Fabricators Eddy Riyanto, and President Director of PT Wijaya Karya Industri & Construction Dwi Johardian, in Jakarta, Monday (28/3/2022).

President Director of Subholding Pelindo Jasa Maritim Prasetyadi said, the construction of cranes in the country is one of the strategic initiatives in pillar expansion & partnerships, namely cooperation with industry players and partner strategies to develop cooperation in the field of crane fabrication. This initiative aims to change Indonesia's position from a target market to a market player.

"This domestic crane development initiative is by looking at the large potential market within the Pelindo Group, as well as the potential market outside the Pelindo Group or private Port Business Entity (BUP)," he explained.

He said that the construction or manufacture of cranes locally, is expected to be able to use local components of at least 20% in the early stages and will gradually be increased according to the capacity and capability of the local industry so that Indonesia will move towards national independence in the provision of loading and unloading equipment for cranes.

“In addition, this also reduces dependence on imported products and transfers of knowledge from Crane Maker to Pelindo and local fabrication industries. The SPJM empowers national industries, namely local steel fabricators and producers, as a form of synergy between SOEs and their subsidiaries, and the National Private. Thus, this can improve the position or brand image of Pelindo Jasa Maritim, especially as one of the crane providers and increase Research and Development (R&D) capabilities in the construction of cranes, "added the President Director of SPJM.
