MAKASSAR, December 13, 2023 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 4 Makassar estimates that the number of passenger flows and ship calls will increase by 30% in this year's Christmas and New Year (Nataru) season compared to the 2022 Nataru season.
As the largest, densest and busiest port in Regional 4, Makassar Port always records the highest number of passenger flows in every Nataru season. Of the 20 Pelindo managed branches in Regional 4, the total passenger flow from H-15 to H+15 at Makassar Port was 83,860 people during the Nataru season last year.
"Of the total number of passengers, for embarkation or departing passengers as many as 42,722 people and debarkation or arriving passengers as many as 41,138 people," said Iwan Sjarifuddin, General Manager (GM) of Pelindo Regional 4 Makassar.
The number of passenger flows in the Nataru 2022 season, according to him, experienced a growth of 208% compared to the same period the previous year which only reached 40,149 passengers.
Pelindo Regional 4 Makassar also recorded the number of ship visits in the Nataru season last year reaching 83 ship calls. "It is predicted that this year's Nataru season will experience a 30% increase compared to the same period last year," Iwan added.
