MAKASSAR, February 12, 2024 - Implementing the Occupational Health and Safety (K3) Month this year, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 4 held a K3 Month Apple in 2024 which was held in the AKHLAK Meeting Room 7th Floor Pelindo Office in Makassar, Monday (12/2/2024).
The K3 Month Apple took place starting at 09.00 WITA and was led by Pelindo Regional Head 4, Enriany Muis, and attended by all officials and staff within the Pelindo Group Makassar area.
In her remarks, Pelindo Regional Head 4 Enriany Muis said that the K3 Month Apple was held as one of Pelindo Management's campaigns to all Pelindo people to increase awareness of Safety and Health aspects at work.
"K3 is no longer seen as a complement to port operational activities but has transformed into a necessity. A company said to be advanced cannot be seen only in terms of the amount of profit earned each year. However, the number of work accidents is also one of the points considered in this case. Workers who are safe, secure and healthy at work will directly increase the productivity of the Company," said Enriany.
According to him, working safely and securely can reduce unnecessary costs incurred by the Company in the event of a work accident or occupational disease that befalls workers. Moreover, the burden that must be borne by the families of workers who experience it. "As we know that on average at least 2 people are behind the worker, which is the responsibility of each worker," she said.
In the momentum of this year's K3 Month, Enriany appealed to all Pelindo people, especially Pelindo Group Makassar area, to continue to increase productivity while still paying attention to the aspects of Occupational Safety and Health in their activities.
"I hope that senior leaders become examples for their subordinates in implementing K3, so that the K3 Culture Internalization program programmed by the Head Office which comes from management policy, does not only become a written program to fulfill KPIs, but really becomes a culture for workers. This is not easy because the culture itself is formed not by itself but requires effort and a long process so it is hoped that the intervention and example of senior leaders can accelerate it all."
He also added that many activities can be carried out to internalize the K3 Culture such as Management Walkthrough, Safety Patrol, Safety Briefing, Inspection, and Safety Forum both internally and externally. Especially for Walkthrough Management, it is carried out by senior leaders where from this activity it is expected that operational issues or constraints in the field can be conveyed and there is a positive interaction between field staff and senior leaders.
"In addition, the activity can also help in knowing the effectiveness of K3 implementation in the field. So that after this activity, things that have been good can be maintained and things that have not been improved," he concluded.
In addition to holding the OSH Month Apple, Pelindo Regional 4's Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Manager, Rosfajrin Latuconsina said that his party also held a seminar to enliven this year's OSH Month.
The K3 seminar with the concept of a Health Webinar with the theme "The Impact of Drug Abuse on Employee Performance" also took place in the AKHLAK Meeting Room, 7th Floor, Pelindo Office in Makassar on the same day, Monday (12/2).
In the K3 Seminar which took place offline and online, it presented two speakers, namely Rudy Hartono Russeng, Head of the Institute for Caring for the Nation's Children, Prevention, Handling & Recovery of Victims of Drug Abuse, and Ishak Iskandar who is the Coordinator of the Prevention & Community Empowerment Division of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of South Sulawesi Province. As well as opening speech delivered by Regional Head 4 Pelindo, Enriany Muis.
National Occupational Safety and Health Month (K3) is a month-long initiative every year. It is held from January 12 to February 12 to increase awareness and implementation of OSH in various sectors. In addition, this initiative is also expected to ensure and protect human resources at work.
The theme of this year's National OSH Month is "Cultivate OSH, Be Healthy and Safe at Work". In a global context, the National OSH Month is also part of efforts to support the transition from pandemic to "endemic".
The implementation of OSH Month activities within Pelindo Regional 4 is also carried out continuously and continuously throughout the month. Among them, according to Rosfajrin, is by holding various activities such as Worker Gymnastics and Poster & Video Design Competition.
