Surabaya, 5 April 2022 - PT Pelindo Multi Terminal as a sub-holding of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo continues to expand its service range in the central and eastern regions of Indonesia with the official start of port operations at Makassar Port, Balikpapan Port, Trisakti Port in Banjarmasin, Mekar Putih Port in South Kalimantan, and Jamrud Harbor in Surabaya, starting on Friday (1/4).
The start of the operation of the five ports by SPMT is a continuation of the signing of the agreement on the handover of Pelindo's business operations with SPMT on December 29, 2021, and begins with the handing over of Dumai Port operations to SPMT on January 1, 2022, which has continued to increase over the past four months. As of April 1, 2022, it is recorded that SPMT has handed over operations in 11 ports, 2 on Sumatra Island, 3 on Java Island, 5 on Kalimantan Island, and 1 on Sulawesi Island.
President Director of PT Pelindo Multi Terminal, Drajat Sulistyo, said SPMT will operate 22 Non-Container Terminals spread across a number of regions in Indonesia. In addition, SPMT also manages 11 Non-Container Terminals through its two subsidiaries, PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok and PT Indonesia Vehicle Terminal.
"The operation of 11 ports by SPMT in early 2022 is a starting point and a manifestation of the company's commitment to be at the forefront of the Indonesian port business, especially in Multipurpose Terminal services," he said.
The commencement of SPMT operations at these five ports was also marked by the Go Live Operational Joint Prayer which was held simultaneously from Surabaya, Makassar, Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, and Bogor, and centered at Gapura Surya Nusantara, Surabaya on Friday, April 1, 2022.
This activity was attended directly in Surabaya by the President Commissioner of PT Pelindo Multi Terminal Darwanto and the Board of Commissioners, as well as SPMT President Director Drajat Sulistyo and SPMT Strategy & Commercial Director Ogi Rulino and attended online by the Board of Commissioners, SPMT Board of Directors, and Regional Head 3 and 4 Pelindo.
In this activity, at each activity location, compensation assistance was also distributed to orphans as an expression of gratitude and prayer to God Almighty so that the start of SPMT operations at these four-port branches is always in the blessing of God Almighty.
On the same day, the inaugural ship was welcomed at Jamrud Harbor, Surabaya, with the ship being the KM Kintamani, an Indonesian-flagged general cargo ship with a length of 79.5m and a gross tonnage of 1,858 metric tons.
Welcoming the inaugural ship at Jamrud Port also marks the official start of the operation of the Pelindo Multi-Terminal port at Jamrud Port, Surabaya as of April 1, 2022.
