Jakarta, June 17, 2024 - Pelindo successfully served the inaugural visit of a luxury cruise ship owned by international company Resorts World Cruises at Tanjung Priok Port. This is proof of Indonesia's readiness to become a Cruise Homeport in the Asian region.
"We appreciate the trust given by the management of Resorts World Cruises who have chosen and made Tanjung Priok as one of their homeports in Asia," said Pelindo's Group Head of Corporate Secretariat, Ardhy Wahyu Basuki.
The cruise ship, which docked at Pier 106 of Tanjung Priok Port on Sunday afternoon (16/6), named Resorts World One, is 268 meters long and 37 meters wide. To welcome tourists arriving and departing at Tanjung Priok Port, Pelindo prepared a garbarata for the convenience of getting on and off passengers, a waiting room, and facilities to handle the passengers' luggage. On this maiden voyage, the Resorts World One ship will carry 3,500 passengers and crew from Tanjung Priok to Singapore.
"Today's first voyage is a dream come true for us and we would like to thank the Indonesian government, local authorities, our travel agent partners, the media and our customers for their support in making this first voyage one to remember and celebrate.Together let's welcome Indonesia and ASEAN as one of the world's largest cruise tourism destination regions," said President of Resorts World Cruises, Michael Goh.Ardhy then explained that Pelindo continues to collaborate and further explore the potential for cooperation and future development to increase the tourist ship, cruise and yacht business in various locations in Indonesia. This is in line with the government's move to provide operational ease for tourist ships, cruises and yachts, in terms of policies and operations to sail in Indonesian waters in creating a dynamic and high-quality tourism industry.
"We together with the Coordinating Ministry for Marves, Ministry of Transportation and Pelindo will continue to make improvements when cruise ships enter Indonesia, one of which is infrastructure improvement, then ease of promotion in Indonesia, especially in the field of cruise tourism and then relaxation of regulations. This is very important for the future," explained Kemenparekraf's Director of Special Interest Tourism, Itok Parikesit.
Resorts World One is scheduled to make 4 round-trips and a one-way trip to Singapore. It departs Jakarta for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Singapore and returns to Jakarta for six days and five nights. Travelers can board Resorts World One from Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta with its maiden voyage today followed by departures on June 21 (Friday), June 26 (Wednesday) and July 1 (Monday)."This is my first experience taking a cruise trip and I don't need to go all the way to Singapore and Malaysia because now I can go directly from Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, making the cost more affordable," said Melinda, one of the passengers on board Resorts World One.
Melinda added that she was very impressed with the services and facilities provided at Nusantara Pura Passenger Terminal at Tanjung Priok Port and would recommend it to friends and family."With the success of this first service, we hope to continue to increase cooperation with Resorts World Cruises to advance Indonesia's maritime tourism industry," Ardhy concluded.
