Pelindo Synergizes Kuala Tanjung Multipurpose Terminal with PTPN III and KAI

Kuala Tanjung, January 9, 2022 – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) / Pelindo continues to develop Kuala Tanjung Port through synergy with PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero) / PTPN III and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) / KAI. Pelindo seeks to optimize the utilization of existing facilities at the Kuala Tanjung Multipurpose Terminal and its supporting industrial areas.

This effort was carried out through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the Cooperation Plan for Optimizing Kuala Tanjung Multipurpose Terminal Facilities, KEK Sei Mangkei and Freight Transportation Using Train at Kuala Tanjung Port (08/01).

The signing of the cooperation was carried out by the Director of Strategy for Pelindo, Prasetyo, the President Director of Holding PTPN III, Mohammad Abdul Ghani and the President Director of KAI, Didiek Hartantyo and witnessed directly by the Minister of BUMN, Erick Thohir.

"Currently, Pelindo, PTPN III and KAI, we unite the intention and determination to work together and work together, synergize between BUMN, to reach market potentials in the Malacca Strait, in order to realize Kuala Tanjung Port into Indonesia's logistics and supply chain. hub,” explained Prasetyo, Pelindo's Strategy Director.

The scope of this collaboration is optimizing the utilization of port facilities and synchronizing plans for the development of railway lines with industrial clusters. This step is expected to make the Kuala Tanjung multipurpose terminal a loading port and/or destination port in the distribution of logistics, raw materials, the production of KEK Sei Mangkei and PTPN Group plantation products by optimizing the use of KAI's trains.

"Indonesia must have its own ecosystem, namely by working with the private sector, UMKM and other parties. I agree with the integration of the port area and industrial area, which is supported by trains and also products owned by BUMN and private parties. All parties work together to develop their respective areas. So, I hope, the ecosystem that we are building now can balance the Indonesian economy," said Erick Thohir, Minister of BUMN.

In addition to the signing ceremony, there was also the handing over of assistance for one (1) ambulance unit by the Director of Strategy of Pelindo, Prasetyo to PMI Medan City in the framework of the Pelindo Beramal Program and the handing over of funding assistance for the Micro and Small Business Development Program by Regional Head 1, Aprilla Dwison to 10 Foster Partners Pelindo's flagship. The two handovers were also witnessed by the Minister of BUMN, Erick Thohir.
