Pelindo Run & Ride 2024 Records 31,000 Participants
JAKARTA, 14 September 2024 - Celebrating its 3rd anniversary, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo again held the annual Pelindo Run and Ride sports event which aims to inspire a healthy lifestyle. This year's number of participants is the highest ever, reaching 31,268 people from all over Indonesia, up from the previous year's 26,000 people.
Participants will compete virtually for 16 days from 14 to 29 September 2024, where this year the distance challenge for runners and cyclists is 33 km and 330 km respectively. At the flag off held at the West Plaza of Gelora Bung Karno today, Assistant Deputy of the Ministry of SOEs, Desti Arlaini, accompanied by Pelindo Commissioners and Directors, was present.
‘Seeing 31,268 participants participating in the Pelindo Run and Ride shows that the spirit of healthy living is now growing in Indonesian society. Pelindo is committed to continue encouraging the organisation of inspiring positive activities,’ said Pelindo Deputy President Director Hambra in his remarks at the ceremonial flag off.
In line with this, the Director of Human Resources of Pelindo Jasa Maritim as the chief executive, Rachmat Prayoga said, ‘We hope to further motivate the participants to continue to be active and excel, both in this event and in their daily lives’. Pelindo gave awards to participants with the best performance and most kilometres categories, both from the general and employee groups, with a total prize value of Rp 540 million.
Muh. Radhi, a participant who has joined the event since the first year, said, ‘Every year the event gets more exciting and I always look forward to it. This year with more than 30,000 participants, the energy is incredible! I am motivated more than ever to complete this challenge’.
The winners will be announced at the peak celebration of Pelindo 2024 Day in Makassar, early October. In addition to the Run & Ride activity, Pelindo organised a series of other activities such as Pelindo Mengajar, which is a direct teaching activity by the company's top management to junior high school, high school and university students related to port and live experience; Bazar UMKM Assisted by Pelindo; and other social activities aimed at strengthening Pelindo's relationship with the community.
In the third year after the merger, the Pelindo Group has successfully transformed its end-to-end operation services, including standardising and digitising port service systems, and improved its financial performance to become the largest tax contributor of the SOE logistics cluster by 2023 and among the SOEs with the highest revenue in the Fortune Indonesia 100.
