2 Million People Will Pass Through Pelindo Passenger Terminal During Nataru 2024/2025

Jakarta, 7 December 2024 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia or Pelindo projects that an increase in the number of sea freight passengers of 2.2 million people will pass through the Passenger Terminals managed by the company during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2024/2025 period. This projection is up 12.5 per cent compared to the same period last year.

‘Last year the passenger flow in Nataru 2023/2024 was around 1.9 million passengers and this time it is predicted to increase by 12.5 per cent to around 2.2 million passengers,’ said Group Head of Corporate Secretariat, Ardhy Wahyu Basuki.

Pelindo has prepared 63 passenger terminals to welcome the Nataru 2024/2025 holiday spread from the western region to the eastern region of Indonesia.

Of the 63 passenger terminals, it is projected that there are five passenger terminals that are most crowded by passengers during Nataru, namely Tanjung Pinang, Tanjung Balai Karimun, Tanjung Perak, Makassar and Ambon.

In addition, to anticipate the surge in travellers, especially via the sea route, Pelindo has prepared several additional facilities such as tents, chairs and portable toilets during the Nataru period.

Additional internal operational officers and security from the TNI / Polri and increased inspection of passenger luggage are also carried out during the Nataru period to improve the comfort of passengers as a follow-up to the direction of the Ministry of BUMN.

‘We will also monitor and supervise the flow of embarkation and debarkation passengers during the period H-15 to H+15 or from 10 December 2024 to 9 January 2025 at all passenger terminals, especially during peak flow / return conditions for the smooth and comfortable flow of Nataru 2024/2025,’ concluded Ardhy.
