Denpasar, February 21, 2025 - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo Regional 3 Benoa recorded an important history, by successfully docking three cruise ships simultaneously. This achievement on the operations side is one of the historical moments towards Benoa Port as Home Port Tourism in Indonesia.
The three cruise ships that successfully docked at Benoa Port on that day were Silver Nova, a luxury cruise ship with a length of 244 meters carrying a total of 1,185 passengers and crew, Queen Elizabeth which has a length of 293 meters and carries 2,927 passengers and crew, and Viking Sky, with a length of 228 meters and 1,311 passengers and crew. The three cruise ships arrived together on Friday afternoon (21/02) at Benoa Harbor.
Johannes Wahyu, Plh Executive Director of 3 Pelindo, said, “Today is a historic moment for Benoa Port. These three cruise ships docking together show that Benoa Port is increasingly becoming a major destination for international cruise ships and has the potential to become a home port for cruise ship activities in the future. We are optimistic that in the future Benoa Port will further develop and contribute more to Indonesia's tourism industry.”
The presence of the three cruise ships has had a positive impact on the local economy and Bali's tourism sector, with thousands of passengers and crew taking part in these activities.Visitors from these cruise ships have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Bali as well as shop and enjoy Balinese culinary specialties, which certainly increases the attractiveness of tourism in this area.
Johannes Wahyu added that currently Benoa Port has a 500 M long east pier, in the future the special cruise pier will be developed to 1100 M long and be able to receive 4 cruise berths together.
Previously Pelindo Regional 3 recorded 134 cruise calls in 2034 and projected there will be 149 cruise calls in 2025, while Benoa Port recorded 56 cruise ship visits during 2024. In the future, Pelindo projects that Benoa Port through BMTH will become a Home Port Tourism.
With this success, Benoa Port further affirms its position as a major port for international cruise ships and is ready to welcome more cruise ship arrivals in the future.
