Medan, 3 February 2022 - PT Pelindo Multi Terminal as a subholding of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) continues to expand its service range by officially starting port operations at Belawan Port, Medan and Tanjung Intan Port, Cilacap, starting Tuesday, February 1, 2022. This is marked by the welcoming of AU Virgo, the inaugural ship SPMT port service users at the Belawan Port Multipurpose Terminal, (2/2).
Welcoming AU Virgo, an Indonesian-flagged tanker as the inaugural service user ship at SPMT, was carried out by SVP Strategic Planning concurrently Project Leader of the Team for the Acceleration of Implementation of Operational Cooperation in the Management of Multipurpose Terminals at PT Pelindo Multi Terminal and Adyttia Dusmara, Branch Manager at PT Pelindo Multi Terminal Belawan, through a ceremony giving souvenirs to the cargo owner and ship representatives. The 100 m long ship carries out loading and unloading activities of 4,300 tons of liquid bulk commodities which will be exported to Myanmar.
As an expression of gratitude to God Almighty, SPMT also held a joint prayer and the provision of compensation to orphans which was carried out in a hybrid manner simultaneously at Belawan Port, Tanjung Intan Port, and Jakarta on Monday, January 31, 2021 and was attended by the Board of Commissioners, the Board of Directors of SPMT , as well as Regional Head 1 & 3 PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero).
The commencement of the operation of Belawan Port and Tanjung Intan Port by SPMT is a continuation of the signing of the agreement to hand over the business operations of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) with SPMT on December 29, 2021, and begins with the handover of Dumai Port operations to SPMT on January 1, 2022.
President Director of PT Pelindo Multi Terminal, Drajat Sulistyo, said SPMT will operate 22 Non-Container Terminals spread across a number of regions in Indonesia. In addition, SPMT also manages 12 Non-Container Terminals through its two subsidiaries, PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok and PT Indonesia Vehicle Terminal.
Belawan Port, which is the main port on Sumatra Island, will continue to increase in 2021, including the productivity of loading and unloading dry bulk of 409.96 T/C/H which increased by 10% compared to the previous year, and productivity of liquid bulk through integrated pipelines of 179. ,21 T/P/H, an increase of 6.6% over the same period in the previous year.
Tanjung Intan Port, located in Cilacap, Central Java, is the largest Dry Bulk Port on Java Island with a flow of goods reaching 4,830,538 Ton/M3 in 2021 with coal as its main commodity. Having a total pier length of 823 M and a stacking yard covering an area of 69,986 M2, Tanjung Intan Port is the main logistics gateway on the south coast of Java Island.
